Accountability has gotten a bad rep. It’s not a dirty word. I think it’s mainly because it is completely misunderstood. Agents are defensive and don’t like the term because they’re perception of the meaning is wrong. Let’s dig deeper and make sure everyone is on the same page with accountability – at least the way it is used within our team.
Accountability = Caring
When we are considering being in business together, one of the first things we do is define expectations. This works both ways – you have expectations of the team and the team has expectations of you.
Two. Way. Street.
Clarity is king so, for everyone to be on the same page, we need to discuss what is expected out of our business relationship.
When you freely choose to be a part of our team, you are accepting and willing to do the activities we know will make you successful. It is a waste of time to try to reinvent the wheel – benefit from other’s failures!
By the same token, we provide you with the training, coaching, administrative support, leads, marketing and loads of other things that allow you to concentrate on those activities that will allow you to reach your financial and professional goals.
Again, Two. Way. Street.
We form relationships, partnerships with our team members. If you succeed, the team succeeds. It’s in our best interest to help you get to where you want to go! BUT, we can’t do it for you. You have to have the drive, motivation, commitment and tenacity. The recipe is simple, not easy; but we have your back!
In our initial goal meeting, we will define what your goals are and outline the activities needed to achieve them. Then, we will have regular one on one meetings to check the scoreboard to see how you are doing at reaching those goals, what your challenges are, what training, tools and/or skills you need to continue to improve, etc… We work together. We care, so we hold you accountable to the goals you said you wanted. It’s that simple.
Not Everyone is a Fit
We know not everyone will fit into our team culture and style of business. That’s okay. 🙂
In life, we all have and use accountability to stay on track with our goals. We have trainers, join weight loss groups, have coaches, teachers, parents, etc… who are all working to hold you to the activities that will result in reaching the goals you have set for yourself. This is no different.
However, some people are talkers and some people are doers. That’s not to sound disrespectful, just being real.
Lots of people start a new year with a goal to lose weight or become healthier. Statistics show, those who use a trainer or weight loss group/coach are a hundred times more likely to achieve their goal than those who go it alone. You have to stay focused on the prize (whatever it is) and accountability will support you, energize you and keep you focused! We care.
What do you think? Are you a good fit for The Real Estate Pros?
